As Bikes 4 Life grows we are starting to spread our wings and reach out to other communities and people in need. It started with the idea to raise bikes for displaced people in Northern Uganda and we are now starting to implement projects aimed at raising bikes for our marginalized indigenous communities and local children in need.
Our operations are now in 3 states throughout Australia, with Sydney Melbourne currently the strongest.
In July 2012 we will be sending a container of bicycles to isolated indigenous communities in central Australia which will allow education and other facilities to be more accessible. We are also reigniting an old bike program that has ran out of resources but has the facilities to cater for the programs, so we will provide the resources and get the ‘Deadly Treadlies’ back in business.
Furthermore, there are many local groups, families and individuals that we provide bikes to throughout the year. Our beneficiaries include: children in foster-care; refugees; Indigenous youth; homeless people; poverty stricken families; troubled youth and victims of torture and abuse. The main organisations we have been supporting are: Wesley Mission, Rotary, Anglicare, Gordon Care, and Survivors of Torture – Foundation House.
